This month I wanted to try two cakes with one of my ultimate flavour combinations – brown butter and orange.

Brown butter is one of those simple techniques that completely transforms all types of bakes. By simply cooking the butter until the milk solids toast, you get this deep, nutty, almost caramel-like flavour that elevates simple bakes. Teamed with the sweet tanginess of orange, you really can’t go wrong. And of course I had to throw in some chocolate to both bakes too!
